This little storefront in the East Side Mini-Mart plaza cranks out the best bagel in the state, and it's obviously no secret. The entryway is usually packed with famished college kids (it's a mob scene by noontime on weekends) craving the dozen or so varieties. The Bagel Gourmet empire expanded with two satellite shops on Richmond and Thayer streets (the popular Bagel Gourmet Ole nook). Pumpernickel or rye with jalapeno cream cheese? Yes, please. Try the Cinnamon Walnut Raisin on a toasted sun-flower bagel. The driveway rock salt affixed to the salt bagel is a guilty pleasure. Or have one with a turkey sandwich or griddled-to-order egg and cheese sandwich ($4 with bacon). And their iced coffee is pretty damn good, too. Open daily 6:30 am-10 pm.
