In a city short on art galleries, AS220's Project Space is not just vital, but has emerged as one of the most lively. The nonprofit's uncensored, unjuried philosophy embraces the diversity of Rhode Island — ethnicities, age, income, and ability. Results can be a crap shoot (like anyplace else), but then — wow, you find a mysterious tree stump, memories of a Polish grandmother's apartment, demon drawings, or the contents of co-founder Bert Crenca's head.
