Besides embodying the farm-to-table philosophy, with laurels from Gourmet, Epicurious, and the Washington Post, among oth-ers, chef Lee Skawinski serves as the wine director for both his restaurants, Vignola and Cinque Terre; the former takes this year's slot for best wine list for good reason. The list high-lights wines that tend to fall under the radar. The carefully curated selections — from France, Italy, Spain, and Austria, as well as South Africa and South America — are picked for their ability to support and enhance the food, which can be described as small-town Italy meeting farmland Maine. And if you can't decide on a glass (or a bottle), try a flight: three different three-ounce pours of white or red for $14.
