The Arnold Arboretum is a people-watching paradise favored by cyclists, runners, skating enthusiasts, and people with dogs, all experiencing the wide-open space in perfect harmony. The Harvard-run spot of greenery hosts slews of guided tours; Lilac Sunday in May is always gold — and makes for a fine outing with Mom, since it falls on Mother's Day. But best to go for a random weekend in July and experience the sanguine summer sun. The only buzzkill is those peeps who can't control their canines. Leash it up, bitches.
