Queeraoke at the Midway Cafe
If resolutely drinking your way past your inhibitions until you're ready to stagger on stage and live your Rihanna-meets-Bowie-meets-NSYNC dreams was a sport, Queeraoke would be Homecoming — except everybody wins, and finding the coach and the running back making out behind the bleachers is totally okay. Every Thursday, the Midway in Jamaica Plain opens its doors to Boston's LGBTQ scene and anyone looking to sing, dance, and drink in a welcoming environment. The cover is $5, drinks are cheap, and seeing your top OkCupid matches come together for a touching rendition of Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" is pretty much priceless.
