KO CATERING AND PIES
One of the greatest ways to draw attention when you open a food or drink establishment is to introduce new vocabulary. (See: Tall, Venti, Grande.) Since KO CATERING AND PIES opened in October on a nondescript South Boston street, locals have been flocking to the tiny, stylish space to boost their personal glossaries. Now "brekkie" (breakfast), "barbie" (BBQ), and Vegemite (we're still not sure about this one) are being tossed around foodie circles and beyond, because the Down Under eats that Aussie native Sam Jackson and his head chef Jim Coleman dispense are delicious. And the meat pies? With flaky crust and hearty fillings, they give the fusty term a new definition.
