GRANDMA'S BASEMENT AT TIKI HIDEAWAY
On the back side of Fenway Park, there is a Howard Johnson; and in that Howard Johnson, there is the "Tiki Hideaway" cocktail lounge — atiny, dimly lit room inhabited by the ghosts of a thousand pupu platters. So when we heard that every Thursday, the tiki lounge transforms into GRANDMA'S BASEMENT for an open-mike comedy night — hosted by A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila contestant Benny Bosh, natch — we were instantly enamored with its potential for discomfort/awesomeness. After much anticipation, Phoenix staffers finally arrived at Grandma's Basement, and it was glorious. We laughed, we cried, and we downed too many Tsingtaos over cringe-worthy tales of "stank dick" and mashed potatoes. No longer shrouded in mystery, Grandma's Basement was indeed, as promised, a legend. Still, not one of us has made it through a full show. What happens if you stay until the 1 am closing time? Let us know. Our best guess is you'll achieve enlightenment and/or travel through a portal to another, funnier dimension.
