It’s 17 years and counting for the reggae/ska/jam sextet known as the Agents. Vocalist Jason Dalomba and trumpeter Dawn Maguire founded the band in 1995 and signed on sax man Frank Moniz and bassist Jason “Deuce” Medeiros shortly after (guitarist John Letourneau and drummer Krys Jackson round out the crew) and officially jumped on the ska scene with the 1998 debut, For All the Massive. There’s a playful soulfulness behind the tunes, along with, of course, the occasional reefer reference (see “420”). The Ocean Mist remains a hotspot to catch ‘em in the act, which is where the Agents’ music is meant to be relished. The Art of the Jam is where this band excels. The band’s fourth album is due out later this year. ’Nuff respect due, mon!
