Scarlett Delgado [Lolita Black]
Don’t let the perfect smile and bubbly personality fool you: Scarlett “Skizbot” Delgado, vocalist for the mighty, post-punk/goth quartet Lolita Black, is 100 percent badass. Delgado’s stage presence is undeniable, and in turn has developed Lolita Black into arguably the best live band in PVD. Vocally, think Grace Slick trying to exorcise the demons, or maybe a young Siouxsie-meets-Katharine Hepburn on bath salts. Skiz will make her long-awaited album debut when Flesh, Blood, and Bone finally hits the shelves soon. “Come on baby, I’m just too loud to ignore,” she sneers over a chainsaw riff on“Fireheart,” and hearing the new cuts “Red Descent,” “Black Witch,” and the reworked version of “Tightrope” (which appeared on their ’08 debut Into the Wasteland) only reiterates what we’ve been barking since she joined drummer Kayleigh Melise, bassist Jake Blanchet, and guitarist Bob Otis two years ago — Lolita Black is un-fucking-touchable.
