Who is Travis Kline? Just a kid from Raymond with a little bit of Nashville in him and a sound that's somewhere between Ryan Adams and Jay Farrar. With stints in New York City interspersed, Kline has endeared himself to the Portland scene with a fine five-song debut, More Time, released in November. Though he recorded it on his own, the guest talent he cultivated and the fact that the songs that didn't need much gussying up made it sound natural and easy.
Maybe the most important thing in roots music is authenticity. The most important thing about Kline is that we believe him. He does know regret and remorse and loss and he knows how to channel that into his music and make us remember why we fell in love with Wilco and the Jayhawks and Gillian Welch in the first place. | TravisKline.com
