Steve Grover Trio

Near ... and far

A drummer's drummer and the old lion of the Maine jazz scene, Steve Grover continues to just do what he's always done: play out. Whenever, wherever, with whomever. But he never compromises and you never get less than his best. A lyrical player with a composer's ear, Grover is one of the keepers of the flame, too. He's been instrumental in keeping jazz alive in Maine, whether leading his own ensembles or keeping time for other projects. The best place to find him this summer will be in his role at the 2009 Summer Jazz Festival at One Longfellow (this is a steal at $25 for 13 shows, by the way): He leads his own quintet on June 9 and July 21, and you really don't want to miss him as part of the Lenny Breau Project, who play August 18 and continue to honor a genius we lost too soon. |
