For all the hand wringing from the very vocal anti-music-blog-hype crowd, Grizzly Bear, one of the most blog-hyped bands of the year, walked away with this one. We’d like to think it was partly the homer vote from a Cape crowd who wanted to represent on behalf of the outermost of the Elizabeth Islands, whence the Grizz’s new album gets its name. But more likely, it’s just that people are responding to the lush arrangements of Veckatimest (Warp), from the sunny “Two Weeks” to the stormy “While You Wait for the Others” to the wistful “Dory.” For those of us who’ve been hip to these guys since 2006’s wondrous Yellow House (Warp), it’s rewarding to see them gain a larger following. They might be a little too perfect for the Sunday-crossword/NPR set — then again, maybe that’s not such a bad thing. In other words: cram it, haters.
