Louisville
quartet Invaders is definitely no exception to the current psychedelic trend.
The band formed in 2009 with the release of Floating, but
was dormant for a few years before releasing their follow-up, Dig a
Hole, in May. Static-noise rock that takes chances instrumentally
but lets loose with recklessness in the vocal realm, Invaders are a gem in the
small indie scene of Louisville.
Reverb makes their lyrics far from discernible, leading the brunt of your
attention to their rhythm section. Luckily, all components gel for a fierce
wall of sound, whether it be the howling frenzy of guitar, the brick layer of
fuzz bass, or the percussion — which can make for a punchy metronome on “Bound
and Blown,” or tackle more tasty time changes on “Three Eyes.” Don’t count on
finding much about them on the Interwebs, as they keep a low profile. Try your
luck with a listen to Dig a Hole, however, and that may be
all you need to know.
