Flight

WHY THEM? Mississippi's Flight are either shrouded in dark deep-South mystery or the world is simply sleeping hard on this one-man-band (on stage, Flight are a quartet) that has dropped devastatingly haunting psych-noise off the Plastic Spoons, Hozac, Sweet Rot, and Kill Shaman record labels. Spending time trying to find Flight's real name and background only got in the way of immersing ourselves in an over-distorted graveyard-pop stomp-rock that's turning heads for both punched-out lo-fi rock and the album artwork accompanying it (last month an orgasmic post on the Mishka blog openly told the sleeve designer to get in touch ASAP). Drop the needle, crank it up, and blow out the speakers as skeletons dance around your head. BONUS BIT! Last year Flight released a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "State Trooper" for a Bathetic Records mixtape that also featured Best Coast.
