WHY THEM? The Blood Brothers fractured into a handful of new bands after their breakup — there’s the blast-your-face metalcore Head Wound City, the spazzmo ’80s disco-ballads from Jaguar Love, and the lo-fi electro of Neon Disco. Past Lives gathers almost all the original members of the Brothers (no sassy high-pitched guy, though) and splits the difference, tossing out a barrage of apocalyptic soul jams. Beats still pummel and cut, but now have grooves and call-and-response rave-up vocals from Jordan Blilie, summoning his white-boy Tina Turner impression.

BONUS BIT! Blilie’s fraternal twin sister, Hannah Blilie, is the drummer for the Gossip.
